Monoprinting with Ilze Aviks

May 4 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Ilze Aviks holds an MFA in Fibers and has maintained a studio in Durango for 40 years, and taught textile design across the United States, Australia, Canada, and Latvia.  Ilze has taught at the university level and contributed to essays and reviews in textile publications.  Ilze’s tapestries and stitched cloth are included in numerous public and private collections locally and internationally.

Monoprinting participants will spend the morning learning the fun method of monoprinting on fabric.  The afternoon session will continue with cutting fabric pieces and reassembling them into collages; simple hand stitching will join the pieces adding line, rhythm, and definition.

Free to participate.  No previous experience necessary.  All ages welcome.  RSVP by calling the Southern Ute Museum at (970) 563-2980 between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Class size limited to 20 individuals.  Participants are encouraged to bring a work shirt and/or long apron.
